Defense Ministry: General Staff halts targeting of SDF fire sources in Aleppo

The Department of Media and Communication at the Ministry of Defense announced that the General Staff of the Syrian Arab Army issued an order to halt targeting of SDF fire sources in Aleppo after neutralizing several of them, narrowing the scope of clashes away from civilians. The Department of Media and Communication told SANA that the Syrian Arab Army today stood up to its responsibilities in protecting and defending the people, without making any moves to alter control lines, limiting its actions to responding to sources of fire. Several neighborhoods in Aleppo city came under attacks today by the SDF using mortar shells, rocket launchers, and heavy machine guns, resulting in the death of two civilians and the injury of 15 others. Over 18,000 new companies registered in Syria in year since liberation

Syria has registered more than 18,000 new companies in the year following its liberation from the former regime, the Ministry of Economy and Industry said Tuesday, marking an increase of 9,348 compared with the previous year. According to the ministry, 13,598 of the new businesses were individual commercial registrations, while 1,526 were general partnerships, 158 limited partnerships, 63 joint-stock companies, and 2,678 limited liability companies. The ministry attributed the surge to government efforts to streamline procedures for establishing and managing businesses and to improve investor services. In July, the Ministry reopened the Companies Directorate in Damascus after full renovations aimed at offering more flexible and higher-quality services to investors and entrepreneurs. Canterbury-Bankstown Council shuts down prayer hall linked to notorious preacher Wissam Haddad

A Sydney council has moved to shut down what it says is an illegal prayer hall linked to notorious Islamic preacher Wissam Haddad. The City of Canterbury Bankstown Council issued a "cease use" directive at the Bankstown Al Madina Dawah Centre in the city's south-west on Monday. The council said a review of council records dating back to the 1970s found the site on Kitchener Parade had never been approved to run as a prayer hall, and had only recently received approval to operate as a medical centre. "Our recent surveillance indicates there is a strong suspicion the premises is being used contrary to its intended use," a council spokesperson said in a statement. "We have issued the cease use notices which will be effective immediately. There are no compromises, and we will be taking further action if they don't comply." Syria welcomes Australia’s decision to lift of sanctions on financial sector

Syria’s Central Bank (CBS) Governor Abdulkader Husrieh welcomed on Thursday the Australian government’s decision to lift sanctions on the Syrian financial sector. In a statement on his Facebook page, Husrieh said that Syrian financial institutions can now conduct banking activities with Australia, open representative offices, and establish correspondent relations with Australian banks. He noted that Syria’s Commercial Bank has also been removed from the sanctions list. Husrieh expressed gratitude to the Australian government, calling the move an “important milestone” that paves the way for Syria’s banking sector to reintegrate into the global financial system. Australia imposed sanctions in 2012 on the former regime, including bans on trade in oil, petroleum products, financial services, telecommunications, and precious metals.
