Syria and INTERPOL Boost Security Ties At Morocco Summit

Image
The Syrian government is making a concerted effort to reintegrate into global security frameworks and become a more active participant in INTERPOL. This reflects a strategic priority for Damascus to leverage international channels in its fight against cross-border crime. Major General Abdulqadir Tahhan, Syria’s Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs, met with INTERPOL President Major General Ahmad Naser al-Raisi during the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech. Their discussions focused on “enhancing cooperation in security and policing domains,” marking a tangible shift from years of isolation toward full engagement with the world’s foremost police cooperation network. While Syria has been a member of INTERPOL since 1953, corrective measures were imposed on the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Damascus in December of 2012 concerning its use of the INTERPOL Information System. In June 2021, the Executive Committee decided to lift these measures, with implementation c...

The battle of deterring aggression: The fall of Assad regime after a 12-Day offensive

Image
At dawn on November 27, 2024, the Battle of Deterring Aggression began, marking the start of a historic offensive that would culminate in the fall of the criminal Assad regime after 12 days of intense fighting. This victory marked the dawn of a new era that the Syrian people had long dreamed of since the launch of their revolution in March 2011. In pursuit of this vision, they offered nearly a million martyrs, killed in bombings or tortured in detention centers, and millions more were displaced or turned into refugees. The battle erupted suddenly while the Assad regime intensified its airstrikes on the liberated north, in an international climate that seemed to support its rehabilitation. However, the preparation for this offensive had been in the works for years. Five Years of Preparation President Ahmad al-Sharaa, commander of the Liberation Battle, confirmed that the planning for the offensive had taken five years to execute. During this period, various factions were unified and int...

Image

Only Hanson, her three fellow One Nation senators, and United Australia senator Ralph Babet opposed it. The Senate voted 55 to five to censure Hanson for her burqa stunt.
