Civil Defense and Red Crescent teams assist residents in Aleppo’s clash affected areas

Aleppo, Jan. 7 (SANA) Syrian Civil Defense and Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams responded to the difficult humanitarian situation in Aleppo as the SDF organization increased shelling of residential areas near Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, forcing civilians to flee their homes.

The Syrian Civil Defense said in a statement that, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, its teams have evacuated 850 civilians, most of them from Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, as of 12:30 PM Wednesday. The evacuation was carried out through two gathering points in the al-Awarid and al-Zuhur Street areas, amid an increasing number of civilians leaving nearby neighborhoods targeted by SDF organization shelling.

Earlier Wednesday, the Syrian Arab Army Operations Command announced that Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh would be designated as a closed military zone starting at 3:00 PM. The command also opened two safe humanitarian corridors to allow civilians to move to secure areas.

On Tuesday, SDF organization’s attacks on residential neighborhoods resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including two women, and injuries to 15 others, including two children, in neighborhoods near Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud.
