Syrian Security arrests a person involved in sectarian incitement in Lattakia

Lattakia’s Internal Security Directorate arrested Azdashir Kamel Ibrahim from Jableh city, as part of an ongoing security operation targeting individuals involved in sectarian incitement, undermining civil peace, and assaulting security forces during protests in the province on 27 December of last year.

Initial investigations confirmed Ibrahim’s previous affiliation with the National Defense Militia during the era of the deposed regime, citing documented photographic evidence of his participation in military operations in Aleppo at that time. The Interior Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The investigations also revealed that, following the fall of the deposed regime, Ibrahim engaged in hostile incitement activities against the Syrian state and sought to form an armed group to carry out actions aimed at destabilizing security and stability. He was also found to have coordinated directly with fugitive officers abroad.

The ministry noted that legal procedures have been initiated against the arrested individual, who has been referred to the competent judiciary for further investigation and prosecution under applicable laws.
