The Syrian Arab Army: No advance operation launched yet

Aleppo, Jan. 7 (SANA) The Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army announced on Wednesday that the army has not launched any advance operations toward areas controlled by the SDF organization and continues to ensure the safe evacuation of residents from Aleppo‘s Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.

The command told SANA that the SDF organization is targeting civilians as they attempt to leave the neighborhoods, in an effort to prevent their departure.

It added that “Security and stability will soon be restored in Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud through appropriate measures to protect residents from SDF abuses.”

Earlier in the day, the command declared the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in Aleppo a “closed military zone” starting at 3:00 PM on Wednesday and urged civilians to stay away from SDF positions.

The command also announced the opening of two safe humanitarian corridors to allow civilians to move out of areas controlled by the SDF organization.
